Three beaches. Less than two kilometres of coastline between them. And yet, somehow, each one feels like a completely different Goa. If you're staying in Palolem — which, given you're reading this, you probably are or will be — understanding the personality of each beach changes how you spend your time here.
Quick Reference
Palolem: lively bay, kayaking, restaurants, golden sunsets. Patnem: calmer, family-friendly, yoga studios, rocky southern end. Columb: quiet, half-hidden, best for early mornings or when you want the sea to yourself.
Palolem Beach: The Main Stage
Palolem is the crescent that everyone comes for — and for good reason. A wide, horseshoe-shaped bay fringed by palms and rocky headlands, it's one of the most photographed beaches in Goa.
“Palolem is like an old friend. You know what you're getting, and it delivers every time.”
Patnem Beach: The Slow-Living Option
A ten-minute walk south of Palolem, Patnem is noticeably quieter. Families tend to prefer it because the waves are gentler. Yoga practitioners tend to cluster here for the same reason.
Columb Beach: The Well-Kept Secret
This is the one locals mention when they don't want to share. Go early. Bring your own water. Swim in a bay that genuinely feels private.
Where to Stay for All Three
All four Yara Yaras properties in Palolem sit within easy walking distance of all three beaches. If beach proximity is your top priority, Sunshine and Moonlight give you the most direct walking access.
The Yara Yaras Team
We manage boutique stays in South Goa and spend most of our time between Palolem, Rajbagh, and wherever the beach path takes us.
